I have had dogs all of my life but I never met a Newfoundland until seven years ago and now we have four!  I hadn’t realized what dogs really could do until Scarlet joined our family.  Thinking that we would have another “pet”, I intended to teach her to sit, give a paw, and walk nicely on a lead.  After all, that is what I had trained all of my other dogs to do. That, however, was not Scarlet’s plan for me.

I soon learned what Newfoundlands are really capable of doing.  It started with water training, then conformation, then draft training and soon I was testing for pet therapy, canine good citizen, and obedience – I was addicted!  Of course, you can’t have just one Newf, so we added another and another. I learned how to be a “midwoof” in 2014 when we had our first litter with the guidance of my wonderful mentor and friend. Just as Scarlet approached training, she entered parenthood with gusto and gave us a litter of thirteen puppies.  And, of course, we kept a puppy!

Having Newfoundlands, I have learned the importance and benefits of keeping our pets clean and cute.  I find I get a lot of relaxing benefits myself when I spend time brushing, washing and massaging my dogs.  I know they enjoy it and look forward to these one on one sessions of attention and love.

When I am not working with my dogs, my professional background is as a healthcare executive, national speaker, professional coach and entrepreneur.  I live in Colchester, CT with my family, which includes our four Newfoundland dogs, and 2 long-haired cats.
